Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following war: World War II (WWII). Contains photographs of the following military units and organizations: 9th U.S. Army, European Theater of Operations (ETO), Ryukyu Islands Commission, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). General description of the collection: The James E. Moore photograph collection consists of photos that cover his late WWII activities as CofS, Ninth Army, ETO, with General William H. Simpson. The remainder of the collection covers his assignments as Army Commander, Okinawa, and High Commissioner of the Ryukyu Islands (1955-1958) with many showing visits to various islands, China, Taiwan, and South East Asia. Most of those photos are either "state dinner" or VIP visit types or of various interesting sites within those countries. A few photos are of his assignment as Chief of Staff, SHAPE (1959-1963).

James E. Moore was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point in the Class of 1924. During WWII, he was Chief of Staff (CofS) of the Ninth (9th) Army, ETO. After the war, he was the Army Commander, Okinawa, and High Commissioner of the Ryukyu Islands.
